Arizona’s Varied Weather

Most people think of Arizona as simply very hot and dry. What you may not know is that the many types of weather can be found in Arizona especially depending on the area. The Nation mostly hears about the hot weather in popular cities like Phoenix and Tucson but Arizona has so many areas such as the mountains that have cooler weather and even much snow. A couple of these are popular spots like Sedona, Flagstaff or Show Low and Pinetop.

Central Arizona enjoys mild temperatures in the months of mid October through most of April. Mild being October’s average around 88 degrees while December and January average around 65 degrees. February and March tend to average in the 70’s and April back at the 80’s.

During this wonderful mild temperature period that central Arizona is enjoying the mountain areas like Show Low or Flagstaff, the average temperature will be much lower. These areas have averages in the forties for the months of November, December and January and can see several feet of snow. In October, September, March and April they enjoy temperatures that average in the sixties while the average even into June will only jump to the seventies. In the more central areas of Arizona, you can enjoy the sun most every day of the year and then still drive just a few hours away and find skiing or snowboarding as well as other snow activities.

Arizona also has many lakes that residents and visitors alike enjoy plenty of fishing, camping, swimming and skiing. It is because of the year round great weather that Arizonans enjoy that keeps this state growing rapidly. Think about it, there are no real times of the year or any days that keep people locked inside their homes. Arizona is not in an area that gets hurricanes, tornados, extreme weather conditions (except in mountain areas) and few if any rainstorms that keep people from getting to work or school.

Employers can count on their employees being at work every day of the year based on weather conditions so many companies bring their offices to Arizona so they can be sure there are no days that would keep their employees from getting to work.

The only extreme weather that Arizona does get is obviously HEAT! Yes, it can get VERY hot in the summer months but Arizonans go from their air conditioned homes to their air conditioned cars to their air conditioned offices and back again. Most malls are indoors, many homeowners have pools and other than the outside work force the heat does not affect other careers in general. Enjoy Arizona for all its great weather and many different things to do!
