Phoenix is an amazingly diversified city – sure, it’s the sixth largest city in the United States with a population of 1.3 million and 2.8 million in the Greater Phoenix area, however it’s the fantastic reliable weather that averages over 300 sun-drenched days coupled with a pleasant low humidity that helps attracts over 12 million visitors to Phoenix each year – that’s almost half the entire number that visit the state of Arizona!

Located in the heart of the massive, 2,000 square mile Sonoran Desert, Phoenix averages an annual high temperature of 85 degrees and a rainfall of just 7 inches. Besides a fabulous climate for 3 of the 4 seasons – Phoenix has a hive of activities to choose from, including sporting events, museums and parks. Major sporting events are abundant in Phoenix as are the professional sports teams that include the Arizona Diamondback (MLB), Arizona Cardinals (NFL), Phoenix Coyotes (NHL), Phoenix Suns (NBA), and Phoenix Mercury (WNBA). Phoenix is also home to several other major sporting venues like major professional golf tournaments, NASCAR / Indy Car events at Phoenix International Raceway.

On a typical day, 100,000 passengers arrive and depart from 1,200 aircraft. In the month of March, thousands of visitors flock to Phoenix for Baseball’s Spring Training Cactus League which has 16 teams that play almost daily.

Phoenix sits at a pleasant elevation of just over 1,100 feet above sea level and has just under 2,000 acres of parkland along with the largest municipal park in the world at South Mountain (over 20,000 acres). Surprisingly, there are six lakes located within a short 70 minute drive from Phoenix which helps explain the large number of boats per capita that the state boasts. Colors – constantly changing in the form of brilliant sunsets and desert flora helps make Phoenix an intriguing wonderful place to visit or call home.
